What is Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and How Does Porvoo Achieve It?

In many countries like India and Vietnam, governments are enforcing “Zero Liquid Discharge” policies. This means factories cannot discharge ANY industrial wastewater into public sewers or rivers.

How the Porvoo ZLD System Works:

We treat every drop of water in a closed loop.

  • Step 1: Collection & Pre-treatment
Wastewater from polishing lines is collected in a pit. Heavy particles are screened out.
  • Step 2: Intelligent Sedimentation (The Tower)
Water is pumped into our High-Efficiency Thickener Tower. Flocculants are added automatically. Clean water overflows from the top.
  • Step 3: Sludge Dewatering (The Press)
The mud at the bottom of the tower is pumped to the Filter Press. It becomes dry cake. The filtrate water goes back to the clean water tank.
  • Step 4: Reuse
The clean water is pumped back to the polishing machines. The cycle repeats forever.

The Result: You stop buying fresh water, and you stop discharging wastewater. It’s a win-win for your wallet and the planet.
